Dirty Electro Swing

DJ Shaktibliss

Dressed to the nines with polkadots ablaze, Shakti Bliss exudes her flirtatiously addictive pleasure for 1930′s swing culture with a fun loving modern sexy edge. Her unique live mash-ups and remixes keep the dance floor swinging with a bohemian flair and unavoidable banging bass music. Occasionally it gets dirty, then suddenly goes all love bird again.

A premier DJ and music producer, Noir electrifies the dancefloor with his unique blend of dance music infused with speakeasy swing riffs.

Imagetel_004.jpg

Oh, these ladies are not for the faint of heart! Just the opposite in fact!! Crack a window or a collar! These girls are sultry in just the way the ladies were back in the day. Rocking a traditional style tease punctuated by fan numbers and the slow draw of zippers gone south. The Kabaret has great crossover appeal with creatures from all walks of life… purrrrr. It isn’t too ‘old’ or too ‘modern’, but a great hybrid of the two. Of course, the night takes head when the crowd heats up the dance floor. Flirting is an essential part of a BKK event even for the wallflower. Ladies and gents gravitate to become dance partners, to show off those swing steps, some taught, some freshly fostered.

SugarBeats

[Adapted Records, Street Ritual, Muti Music]

www.sugarbeatsmusic.com

SugarBeats consists of two very talented DJs, Ananda Goldsmith & Luke Estes. Known for their jazzy chord stabs, funky electric leads, heavy bass design, and a healthy dose of traditional instruments and samples, the duo SugarBeats has steadily stepped up the bar in their own brand of Glitch Hop and Future Funk since they launched in 2012. You can trace the evolution of their sound from their first releases with Street Ritual Records, to their EP “Fizz Pop” on Muti Recordings, and finally arrive at their signature sound as heard on their new EP “Stay Fresh” via Adapted Records. They have rocked stages at some of the biggest sound camps at Burning Man, played festivals such as What The Festival, Kaleidoscope Music Festival, as well as won contests to play the Main Stage at SnowGlobe and Escape from Wonderland with Insomniac Events, respectively. Artists they have shared the stage with include Opiuo, The Glitch Mob, Major Laser, Gramatik, RJD2, The Floozies, Cut Copy, ill.Gates, Pantyraid, Thriftworks, Love & Light, Snoop Dog, Zion I and many more. After years of experimentation they have finally uncovered a sound that is truly their own, which they continue to perfect and explore with each release as they dive deeper and deeper into collaborations with new vocalists, instrumentalists and producers.

TFMarz

A 21 year old Producer/DJ, Marley Schwartz, who relocated from S. Oregon to LA to expand his skills, TFMarz brings a fresh, melodic sound to the Trap and Future Bass genre, while simultaneously tearing down the idea of what genre is.

LATENIGHT

LateNight is the brainchild of TFMarz and SiLOWET.  Joining forces while living in Hollywood, the duo finds the middle ground between their respective styles creating a sonic landscape that lands somewhere between hip hop and genre deifying electronic music. This sonic fusion leads to dance music with a perfect tinge of soul.

SiLOWET

SiLOWET is an electronic music producer, Henry Krant, from Ashland, Oregon. With inspiration from the swung grooves of hip-hop and the other-worldly sound of modern electronic music, SiLOWET delivers a down tempo vibe that anyone can move to.

NoWa

Bass music producer NoWa Cochren-Hawkes takes a whole new spin on the world of EDM and is known on the West Coast for his high energy DJ sets and intricate music production.

Josh Hogeland, born in Seaside, Oregon, is bringing a fresh new sound to Hip Hop on the West Coast. His intelligent lyrics and swagged cadence is attracting massive attention from some of the top West Coast Hip Hop artists in the industry. Bluetech

Over a decade of releases has brought Bluetech’s music to fans of downtempo, future bass, and progressive electronic music, rife with emotional intent, and polyrhythmic percussion. From his homebase in the far-flung islands of Hawai’i, Bartholomew transcends the constructs normally associated with a calculated “electronic artist,” pursuing music with meaning and purpose. Choosing to spend his off-stage time meticulously tweaking precision productions, building the solar-powered studio of his dreams, running his music and arts webzine Nomadculture.net, or putting in time on his Critical Beats imprint—dedicated to preserving and protecting Earth’s remaining rainforests—Evan shirks preconceptions of fellow superstar producers.

DJ Solus

Solus is a DJ, sound alchemist, dancer, and visionary healer who is walking a path of service to the collective. He has been a pivotal figure in the evolution of the conscious electronic dance music scene for over a decade. His profound and ever-deepening devotion to the art of transformation infuses the dance floor or yoga journey with transcendental power and grace.

Solus draws inspiration from years of experience in Kundalini Dance facilitation, as well as extensive tantra, hatha, and bhakti yoga studies. He also served as music director and DJ for the exquisite multi-media performance company Liquid Fire Mantra, and currently for the Dakini Rose Devadasi, temple dance ensemble, with his beloved Monique Trinity Rose.

Solus is an experientialist who quests for multi-dimensional embodiment and transmission of tantric principals and energetic expansion. Off the dance floor, Solus is a bridge into the rapidly evolving ancient-future paradigm we are now living, and serves as a community builder through his knowledge and experience in conscious communication and cooperative co-creation. He has committed himself to serving the empowerment of the feminine principal in all of its forms, both within himself and within society at large.

Solus has since been working as a professional DJ since 1997, He has performed with, and opened for a wide range of acts from Medicine Drum, Ganga Giri, Gaudi, EOTO, David Starfire, Dehli 2 Dublin, MC Yogi, Kirtan Dub Allstars, Ra Ra Avis, and Desert Dwellers.

Lithia Artisans Market Christmas Fair

Date: November 28th - 30th

Join us for the 14th Annual Lithia Artisans Christmas Fair taking place Thanksgiving weekend, November 28, 29, and 30. This is a beautiful show and a great opportunity for all the members of the Lithia Artisans Market. Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland (LAMA) is a collective of regional artists and craftspeople from Southern Oregon and Northern California exhibiting and selling their own work.

LAMA is committed to making a difference and serving the local community here in Southern Oregon. For example, following a flood in 1997, LAMA made a significant contribution to the community with donations to help with the Ashland Creek restoration. A rug auction was held which brought in over $15,000 toward the restoration fund. During the annual Christmas Faire, on Thanksgiving weekend, a portion of the artists’ sales goes to local charities. LAMA also makes regular donations to La Formacion de la Joven Guanajuatense, an all girl orphanage, in Guanajuato, Ashland’s Sister City in Mexico.

The Itals

Long before the Itals were a spark in their producer's eye, Keith Porter recorded his first hit single, "Hitey Titey", with the Westmorelites on the Studio One label in 1967. Around 1969, Keith became lead singer for a band named Soul Hermit, backed by Eugene Gray and Wignal Henry on guitars, and Reginald Seewell and Nash on base and drums. They played in numerous entertainment sectors of Jamaica until Owen Sinclair put together a new band in 1971. Called Future Generation, the band was composed of Dalton James and Roy Hilton on drums, Devon Henry on keyboards, Eugene Gray, guitar, Scott on sax, and Keith on vocals. They performed all over Jamaica for X amount of years, singing all styles of music, American R&B and love songs and native Jamaican songs.

NEW ALBUM - LET'S GET IT ON

TOURING NORTH AMERICA NOV / DEC 2014  The Itals are still vital and bearing ripe fruit. In November and December they will be touring spreading their roots messages, melodies and harmonies across the US in support of their R&B tribute album  - Let's Get It On. Love Me Twice, the first single from the new album is getting a lot of airplay and appreciation. Also coming out soon is the repackaged Itals compilation Mind Over Matter, which has been out of print for several years and features many of their biggest hits. The Itals previous release - For The Good Times -- is also available. The Itals DVD - My Way High Way features a song from their 2011 release -Let Them Talk.Out of Savana La Mar, Jamaica, for years Keith Porter and his band are one of the hardest working touring reggae acts in North America. These music messengers have the horsepower and perseverance to perform in some of the farthest North American outposts. For this sacrifice, they are greatly loved and respected by their fans. Keith Porter's father was a minister in Jamaica, and with these roots, Keith has been bringing forth the message from an early age.Known for their tight harmonies, and uplifting songs, these reggae ambassadors have been touring fresh and strong since the early eighties. After many hard years on the road, they are still youthful and in good health. Keith Porter has proven himself to be one of the strongest men in the business. His endurance is remarkable. Keith "never gets weary". The Itals are living samples of the "Rasta Philosophy".

Gaelic Storm

Gaelic Storm is back with the #1 Billboard World Album The Boathouse, a seafaring album of traditional songs of the ocean, recorded in one whiskey fueled week in a converted boathouse on The Chesapeake Bay. The Boathouse is the first release from Gaelic Storm’s “Small Batch Sessions,” a new series that will offer truly exclusive releases only available for purchase on the band’s website and at their live shows.

With catalog sales of more than 1 million, the group has now had four consecutive albums debut at #1 on the Billboard World Albums Chart: 2008’s What’s the Rumpus?, 2010’s Cabbage, which remained parked in the top slot for three consecutive weeks, 2012’s Chicken Boxer, and 2013’s The Boathouse.

The Boathouse is the sixth album to be released on the band’s own label, Lost Again Records, and showcases the incomparable songwriting and accomplished musicianship of a band that has made their mark bringing fans to their feet two hundred days per year.

The group’s ability to deftly incorporate a rock sensibility into their sound affords them rare crossover appeal. In recent years, they’ve performed on the same bill with acts ranging from Zac Brown Band and the Goo Goo Dolls to Emmylou Harris and Lyle Lovett, at events as varied as the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Milwaukee’s Summerfest.

With their signature acoustic production, Gaelic Storm blends indie-folk and world grooves with Celtic tradition to bring you twelve tales of plight and plunder, whiskey-drenched pirates, flying cannon balls and the ladies of ill repute. Ready your sea legs; you'll need them for The Boathouse!

Siskiyou Kelt

Siskiyou Kelt is Ashland-based. It's members met at a jam sessional at a pub on the Plaza and started playing for the local Contra dances. Their specialty is "foot-stomping good" traditional and contemporary Irish tunes and occasionally strays to French Canadian.  Whistle player, singer and percussionist Pat O'Scannell has been performing traditional Irish music since childhood. She has toured the West Coast, made numerous recordings, played at such Festivals as Seattle Folk Life, Vancouver Folk Music Festival and British Columbia's 'Festival of the Islands'. Morgan O'Shaughnessey, fiddle, viola and nickelharpa, brings joy to jam sessions, festivals, pubs and concert halls in the us and italy. He is regularly seen in local orchestras and quartets. Jonathan Landes, guitar, mandolin, bass, as a wee lad started performing at Bar Mitzvahs in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Raising them with a solid foundation of faith, they taught them through example to love others and give to their community. Their passion was volunteering and financially supporting the local youth shelter. However when tragedy strikes, Chris turns his back on his faith and the shelter. His choices are leading to destruction unless he changes his ways. Will an unlikely visit save what is about to be lost?

Phutureprimitive

Phutureprimitive is the moniker of Bay Area producer and songwriter Rain. Early childhood photos reveal Rain sitting at the piano plinking keys, grinning from ear to ear… a true sign of things to come. Continuing his early fascination, Rain was later drawn to electronic music, inspired by its ability to combine the best of organically played instruments and the synthetic pleasures of sounds more exotic to the human ear. After beginning a DJ career in the 90s, Rain began incorporating the music he was making in his home studio into his DJ sets. That was all it took to trigger a full blown love affair with electronic music and the process of its creation… and Phutureprimitive was born.

Phutureprimitive’s music is best described as dripping wet love drops of nasty mind melting sonic bliss. Lush melodies drift across intricate rhythms, groove heavy beats and warm, fuzzy bass lines. Often exploring a dark and dense palette, there is also a profound sense of tranquility and beauty, engaging the listener into hypnotic movement and often escalating into a full-on kinetic experience. Shimmering with cinematic qualities, his music ultimately speaks to the body, mind and soul.

Since his days as a member of the Beatnigs while in his early twenties, Michael Franti grew from an angry young hip-hopper with a political, socially conscious bent to a man who channeled his seriousness, social unease, and desire for change and merged them with his love for music, particularly old-school R&B, soul, and hip-hop. What he left behind in brash, make-some-noise aesthetic, he gained in compassion. And through his use of his own raw power — charisma, sex appeal, sense of social injustice — he carried out in his music a community-generated passion in much the same way as Gil Scott- Heron or Marvin Gaye.

American Kid, Patty Griffin’s seventh album, is her first album of mainly new material since Children Running Through in 2007. In between, she made the Grammy Award-winning Downtown Church (2010), her version of classic gospel (though it featured three original songs). She also became a member of Band of Joy, the group in which leader Robert Plant and his cohorts meld British and American folk, rock and spiritual music.

American Kid, much of which Griffin says “was written to honor my father,” returns to typical Patty Griffin territory, which is to say that it features a group of remarkably powerful, personal and unpredictable songs arranged and performed in a style that doesn’t entirely repeat anything she’s done on her previous albums while drawing on all of them. Yet Griffin’s catalog is among the most unified in modern popular music, because her singing is as unmistakable and inimitable as her songwriting.

John Fullbright

"He can whip an emotional tale from the thinnest fibers of experience, held together by a balance of uncommon earnestness and vulnerability that never feels cloying. Take the piano ballad "She Knows," which conjures a classic melody and insightful lyrics capturing love externally — mature and fragile, all at once. " Rolling Stone

The FORT KNOX FIVE’s talent for organic hooks has made them highly sought after producers and remixers. They have over 20 remixes to their credit, including monster mixes for A. Skillz and Krafty Kuts, Kraak & Smaak, Ursula 1000, Dynamo Productions, and Mo’ Horizons, as well as remixes for the legendary Tito Puente, Louis Armstrong, and Bob Marley. The FORT KNOX FIVE has coined the term ‘Reminted’ to represent their signature remixing style. They released the first ‘Reminted’ CD showcasing some of their favorite productions in a continuous DJ mix
in 2007.

Certain high-end consumables such as whisky, wine and cheese are said to improve with age, undergoing many complex processes to enhance and improve the flavour, colour and appearance. In the same vein, DJ Vadim has defiantly and soulfully been fermenting and malting his global musical elixir for coming on 20 years now, and can now well and truly be described as vintage.

DJ Vadim has become well respected as an innovator in a number of areas during his career, "a veteran presence in the DJ community as well as one of the foremost producers in too many communities to count, Vadim is never running out of ideas" (URB Magazine). In 1994, Vadim founded his own independent record label, Jazz Fudge and signed to Ninja Tune the following year. So begun Vadim’s adventure that is now approaching its twentieth year and has seen him tour across 69 countries and perform over 2500 times, with shows at some of the world’s most prestigious events such as Sonar, Glastonbury, Big Chill, V Fest, Fuji Rock, Roskilde, Exit, VInarock, Moscow Street Ball (to over 40,000 people), Notting Hill Carnival and Shambhala…To describe the man as an internationalist almost seems to sell him short.

Vadim has produced numerous solo and group albums across these genres, recording in the studio and on his travels around the world, melding flavours and rhythms to create globally aware music with global appeal; he has been responsible for seminal underground classics such as The Terrorist, Black is the Night, Kill Kill Kill, Soldier, Talk to me and Bluebird and has worked with a variety of breaking talent and established artists, musicians, singers and groups, including Wretch32, Foreign Beggars, Alice Russell, Aaron Jerome (SBTRKT), DJ Krush, The Herbaliser, Belleruche, Killa Kela, Fat Freddy’s Drop and The Super Furry Animals. Tope's burden to be accepted in the wider music world is getting lighter and lighter these days. He's already a well-respected member of the Portland scene, having placed at #6 on Willamette Week’s Best New Bands of 2012 list, joining the likes of Radiation City, Onuinu, and his collaborator Reva Devito, as well as #2 on The Deli Magazine’s Emerging Artist List of 2011. Influenced by poetry in elementary years and then progressively participating in the underground hip-hop scene in San Francisco and Oregon, she later found her own style fusing multiple genres together to inspire her very own unique, creative sound. In 2013, Sassy signed to KTF Ent. releasing the single Cage Rattler and now finds herself often commuting to L.A from her small city of Ashland, OR to perform and record. She has since had the opportunity to bless mics with hip-hop idols such as Abstract Rude, Medusa, Myka 9 and Gift of Gab, all the while continuing to expand her musical talents on both the stage as well as behind the scenes in event production and promotion.

Maceo Parker is a funk titan. His body of work is as important to the genre as those belonging to James Brown, George Clinton and Bootsy Collins, all of whom have collaborated with Parker. On a broader level, Parker must be regarded as simply one of the all-time great saxophonists. He stretched the boundaries of music, fashioned a new style of playing and, most importantly, made some truly great music.

Jumpsuit Records presents

Pushing Through The Pavement:
A Permaculture Action Tour

featuring
The Polish Ambassador
with Liminus, plus Mr. Lif, Ayla Nereo, & Wildlight

For the Polish Ambassador project, born on the richly-colored streets of Chicago and San Francisco, infectious melody is paramount. However, this never overshadows the depth and harmonic complexity that have made the Ambassador a favorite amongst festival curators and beat aficionados worldwide.  Over the course of 6 years, his sound has dipped and swirled through a staggering range of styles, with each album exploring uncharted sonic territory.  Warm, analogue dreamwave; mind-altering glitch; world-infused groove; bass-fueled breaks; sexified down-tempo; electric lullabies; and psy-fi funk are just a few of the genres that have poured from the Ambassador’s soul into earbuds and ghetto-blasters across the galaxy.

Despite the political connotations of his name, the Ambassador is not a political partisan. Rather, he is a diplomat for a new paradigm rooted in creative joy, radical self-expression, and ecological principles.  As part of this mission, the Ambassador has committed to carbon-neutral touring, instigating exploratory dance, and igniting fan participation.

Flanked on the Ambassador’s left is visual artist Liminus, a master of translating dynamic, sonic landscapes into breathtaking video projection.  Liminus’s improvisational abilities are a perfect complement to the Ambassador’s custom-tailored audio transmission, and his presence on stage allows for an audio/visual synergy rarely witnessed in electronic music performance. Together, the duo will take you on a voyage that leaves you drenched in sweat, with a smile slapped on your face, and a heart busted wide open.

Hayes forges songs that, even to the uninitiated, sound like hits. He's been compared to Bill Withers for his rhythmic sense and his soulfulness. His "Powerful Stuff," got a lot of mileage in a Subaru commercial. "Dream Machine" was re-mixed by DJ Mark Farina, "A Thousand Tiny Pieces" was covered by folk group The Be Good Tanyas, "Fucked Me Right Up" landed on the soundtrack to HBO's “Bored to Death.” He has dueted with Aimee Mann, toured with the likes of Ani DiFranco and the Cold War Kids, and his breathlessly sexy slow dance, "When We Fall In," inspired pop star Justin Timberlake to blog rhapsodic. The Afro-Cubans are the same orchestra that can be seen in those distinct performances captured in the famous Oscar-nominated Buena Vista Social Club documentary by Wim Wenders, the Tony Knox documentary Salon of Dreams, or the DVDs Live in Japan and Live in The Hague.

During the spring of 1997 and along with the release in Europe of the three albums, de Marcos and a select group of stellar musicians started touring all over the continent under the banner of a band christened the “Afro-Cuban All Stars.” The original line up, familiar from the records, included Ruben González and Guillermo Rubalcava (piano), Orlando López (bass), Amadito Valdés (timbale), Carlos González and Roberto Valdés (bongos & cuban percussion), Ángel Terry (congas), Daniel Ramos, Alejandro Pichardo y “Guajiro” Mirabal (trumpets), Alberto “Molote” Martínez and Jesús “Aguaje” Ramos (trombones) and, Raúl Planas, Manuel Licea, Pío Leiva, Ibrahim Ferrer and Félix Baloy (lead singers).

After several years of tremendous and unexpected success – including four Grammy nominations, being the subject of several documentaries and films, and being recipients of many other distinctions – the All Stars are certainly the best-known and successful Cuban orchestra after Los Van Van and Irakere.

The Afro-Cuban All Stars has also opened the doors to a new generation by incorporating young musicians into the band. With The Afro-Cuban All Stars, de Marcos has developed a concept: to stand up on the roots for creating the future.

In 2002, de Marcos founded his own independent label, DM Ahora! Records, with which he released the Afro-Cuban All Stars’ albums Live in Japan and Step Forward (which was Grammy nominated in 2006). He also released A Diario (Telmary) and Goza Pepillo (Interactivo), projects that represent a new generation of Cuban music, one that fuses hip-hop with contemporary Cuban genres.
